An edifying initiatory observation
The observation that gave birth to NEURA KING was a real electroshock for us.
In our efforts to integrate artificial intelligence into telemedicine, we were confronted with AIs that, far from being the neutral and benevolent tools we had hoped for, turned out to be moralistic, imbued with a militant progressive ideology and often disconnected from the realities on the ground. These AIs promoted values, without taking into account the cultural diversity and values of African societies.
Instead of serving as a support for diversity and mutual respect, they adopted a tone haughty and denigrated African subjects, thus exacerbating divisions rather than calming them. This opened our eyes to a harsh reality: AI ethics are unipolar, too often conceived without nuance, where progress at all costs is a key word, both radical and authoritarian, castigating the archaism of everything that does not represent a standard of radical progress.
Origins
In the field, where we work every day, this approach is not only inappropriate, but also potentially harmful.
We know better than anyone that AI ethics must be redefined to be truly universal, accessible and respectful of the cultural and moral self-determination of every people and nation.
It is with this in mind that NEURA KING was created, to offer an alternative that respects and values the richness and specificity of each culture.
Make a choice: adopt or abandon
Faced with an artificial intelligence that seemed to be moving away from the values and real needs of users, particularly on the African continent, our founders had to make a decisive decision. The choice was between abandoning a promising but misguided technology, or embracing it while deeply redefining it. They opted for the second path, with a clear vision: to create not a single AI, but to develop the capacity to align any AI with the specific values of each user.
